“Dance has given me so many gifts over the years. Yes, it feels good to move your body and dance to some good tunes, but the whole experience is greater than the sum of it’s parts. By engaging with this practice weekly I’ve found community, friendship, love, deep healing, freedom, and so much more. I am so grateful for Buffalo Ecstatic Dance.”

“It’s one of the few places where folks are allowed to embrace their authentic selves. I have been able to process my emotions and embody my truth in ways previously inaccessible. It has been the most healing practice of my life. The core group is wholesome, safe, and trauma informed.”

FAQs

If you have a body that can move, you can dance. It’s a common misconception that you have to be “good” at dancing to enjoy dance, but this is not true! Dancing is a human right. Ecstatic dance is not about how it looks, or doing the right moves at the right time. It is a time to dance like nobody’s watching! You will not be judged for your movements here.
If your body is unable or unwilling to move for any reason, you are still welcome and encouraged to come and soak in the experience of dance. Dancing in the literal sense is not required to participate.

Buffalo Ecstatic Dance is a donation-based event. You can donate any amount you feel able/comfortable. No one will be turned away because of inability to donate.
We run entirely off of donations from our community, and no one makes money from these events. All proceeds go to renting our space or otherwise improving dance.

Absolutely! This is a family-friendly event. Kids of all ages participate in dance from ages zero to seventy and beyond.
For young children we recommend bringing a quiet activity such as a coloring book for them to enjoy during our sharing circles.

You are free to come and go as you please! just as you are free to move your body in any way you please.
We recommend staying for the full session for your first time at dance. However, after your first dance arriving late or leaving early are both perfectly fine.
